On the Campaign Trail With Rick Handley
There is just 6 weeks until election day. I have been out meeting and listening to Malta voters and asking them if they have any concerns for our Town, and what they like about it. People like living in Malta but they are concerned about unbridled development, not enough green space, too many apartments, traffic, and are concerned about infrastructure like water, electricity, and internet. Malta voters, at least the ones I have talked to, are not opposed to new development but they tell me it needs to be done right. I believe there are three types of developments; desirable, unavoidable, and unacceptable. We should encourage desirable development like new jobs, restaurants, doctors, and dentists. We need to control the unavoidable new development that has already been approved, and stop, yes stop, the unacceptable. If elected I will push for more public input into new development, more open and green space, and make sure that developers provide significant public benefits if they want to build in our Town. I’m Rick Handley and I am running for Malta Town Board.
